Arbor Hub Finalborgo

Period: Testing/Pilot Phase
Country:
Italy, Liguria
Outcome:
Arbor Hub

A wellbeing retreat geared at accelerating local sustainable development.

Context:

In the last decades we are witnessing some common trends such as expanding urbanization, over-crowding, population aging, busy lifestyles and diminished social support. Such trends are increasingly becoming an obstacle to the promotion of health understood as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (WHO, 2022). Despite the opportunities provided by technological and social advances, we seem to be unable to profiting of them for our collective well-being.

Project:

“Experience a mindfulness retreat in the Arbor Hub (Finalborgo), immersing yourself in the area's local essence—its nature, agriculture, culinary traditions, and sports. By engaging with Arbor Hub, you contribute to the systemic strengthening of the local community, while also enriching yourself.”

In a beautifully aesthetic rural location in Finalborgo (Italy), we are creating a bioregionalism pilot project. The Arbor Hub bridges tourism, local development, values the land, and is centered around nature.

Clients participate in activities aiming at reconnecting them to a virtuous cycle of being, acting and belonging while strengthening their self-esteem, physical, cognitive and affective states and (re)discover pleasure in simple rural life gestures.

Physical activity; animal interaction; social interaction; esthetic engagement; crafts and creativity; music and sensory activation have the power to generate positive psychological; physiological; social and behavioral responses provided they are embedded in a process aiming at establishing (or restoring) individual belief in their own potential and in the potential of society while promoting acceptance and trust. In other words, the consciousness to be able to fulfill one’s potential with the opportunity to belong socially, to reconnect with nature and to promote resilience, equity, health and well-being across one’s life-course.

The location and all the activities provided there are thought to remove any kind of barrier to social cohesion while altering what we can define as urban loneliness and disconnection phenomena.

Operating locally while apply a global standard, we want to show that well-being and circular economies are two sides of the same coin, and thus have the potential of activating the above-mentioned virtuous cycle.

Goal:

Engender positive affective states to our beneficiaries and support healing processes that are more robust, faster and with permanent results in terms of individual well-being.
